Where have the Sociable Lapwings that were heading west got to?

Following the exciting news earlier this week that Raushan has now embarked on a new route south on her migration and has been tracked to a location in Northern Pakistan, we now turn our attention back to the Sociable Lapwings that are following the established westerly flyway out of Kazakhstan.

Jibek – 3rd Update

A satellite pass on August 30th showed that Jibek was still very near her nesting grounds in central Kazakhstan, but a new set of coordinates taken from a pass on the 4th September tells us that Jibek has now travelled about 300km to the west (and has therefore presumably begun her migration).

Despite expectations that Jibek would have embarked on her migration by now, our most recent signal logged  at 15:30 on August 24th confirmed she is still currently close to her breeding grounds a few kilometers East of Lake Tengiz in Central Kazakhstan.
