Finding somewhere to settle down

After spending some time checking out an area near Shakhtinsk, Shirin was not impressed enough to stay and settle down for breeding. The last satellite reading on the 10th of May has her further north, just to the south of a community called Karamyshevka.

Meanwhile, we last showed Boris in central Kazakhstan on the 21st of April.  Since then, he has made another long journey – this time first north-east, and then almost directly east, towards an area not that far from where he started his autumn migration last year, right on the Kazkahstan/Russia border.  His outward journey is the lower track on the map.  We’ll wait to see if they both settle in their new locations.

No further signals from Hanna, and she is was last heard of not far from the place where Ainur’s tag abruptly stopped transmitting February of last year (her last movement was on the 9th of March, and since then the tag has remained in the same place). While we have no firm proof, this might be evidence of hunting in the area.
