Border crossings

Stepaniya and Hanna are still both staying around the Turkmenistan/Uzbekistan border, each crossing back and forth.  Stepaniya appears to be feeding on arable fields in Turkmenistan, but then travels over 25 km to Lake Talimarzhan in Uzbekistan – this is the place where an earlier surveys found hundreds of birds roosting.

These transmissions show that not only can tracking data be used to determine large-scale migration routes, but also local movements, and here, identify cross-border areas of conservation importance.

Boris and Irina have not moved far from their previous locations (the former in northern Syria, the latter northern Saudi Arabia), but Shirin has flown further into Sudan, moving southwards.
